For February, we will be reading Junie by Chelene Knight: An exploration of the complexity within mother-daughter relationships and the dynamic vitality of Vancouver’s former Hogan’s Alley neighbourhood.
The Each One, Teach One Book Club focuses on books written by Black authors with a special interest in Black Canadian authors. The phrase "each one, teach one" is an African-American proverb which asked each enslaved person who learned to read or write to share that knowledge with another person. We can learn a lot from the written word and our fellow community members, and it is in this spirit that people from all backgrounds are invited to participate in this program which encourages cross-cultural sharing, learning, and understanding. Special thanks to Mary Wilson, local Black History Month community organizer, for all of her work and support in creating this program.
This program will be held in person and is suitable for adults.
Mask wearing continues to be appreciated and encouraged in our libraries, especially in situations where maintaining personal space can be challenging.
How to borrow the book:
Photo Procedure: Library staff may take photos and videos to be used for promotional purposes by the library. If you would prefer not to have your picture taken, please speak to a library staff member. Participants of online programs and events are asked to not take screenshots and/or record programs.
