Description

Learn the basics of birding with Birds Canada using Richmond Public Library Birdwatching ExplorePACKS. The program will begin with an outdoor presentation from Birds Canada covering topics such as:

  • Why birds and birding?
  • Guide to binoculars and field guides
  • Major bird groups and families
  • Canadian birds and conservation

This presentation will be followed by a guided birding experience using Richmond Public Library Birdwatching ExplorePACKS. Please dress appropriately for the weather, as we will be outdoors for the duration of this program--rain or shine!

This program is offered in partnership with Birds Canada (https://www.birdscanada.org/).

What you need to know before attending:

  • We will be meeting on-site at Garden City Lands Community Farm and Bog parking lot (49.173249, -123.123546)
  • While the terrain is relatively flat, there may be some gravel or dirt trails
  • Please dress for the weather, as this program will occur rain or shine!
  • Binoculars will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own.

Getting to Garden City Lands Community Farm and Bog:

  • There is free parking in the lot off of Garden City Rd where we will be meeting. Follow the coordinates 49.173249, -123.123546.
  • Several bus routes stop close to our meeting point, including the 407, 301, and 405.

Mask wearing continues to be appreciated and encouraged in our libraries, especially in situations where maintaining personal space can be challenging.


Photo Procedure: Library staff may take photos and videos to be used for promotional purposes by the library. If you would prefer not to have your picture taken, please speak to a library staff member. Participants of online programs and events are asked to not take screenshots and/or record programs.
