Richmond Public Library is inviting readers to connect with upcoming author Ruby Smith Díaz during a presentation and Q&A in celebration of Black History Month. Her recent novel Searching for Serafim published this year by Arsenal Pulp Press is a fascinating and personal exploration of one of Vancouver's most notable historical figures.
Please join us for an author talk, reading and Q and A with this amazing writer - note that copies of her book will be available for sale at the event, and to read the text in advance copies will be in circulation with our book club set. About the Author:
Ruby Smith Díaz (B.Ed) was born to Chilean and Jamaican parents in Edmonton – amiskwaciy and graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Education with distinction. Ruby’s experiences of marginalization as a youth has inspired her to dedicated her all of her work to exploring and addressing equity and social justice.
Her artistic work has been featured in the Vancouver International Film Festival, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Mount St Vincent University Art Gallery in Halifax, and Truck Contemporary Art Gallery in Calgary. Her writing has been featured in Nora Samaran’s book, Turn this World Inside Out, and Harsha Walia’s book, Undoing Border Imperialism.
