Richmond Public Library is inviting readers to connect with celebrated author Eddy Boudel Tan during a presentation and Q&A in celebration of Pride Month. His recent novel The Tiger and the Cosmonaut published this year by Penguin Canada is a fascinating exploration of an poetically wrought family mystery.
Please join us for an author talk, reading and an opening discussion of some of the more controversial issues that run throughout this novel, such as Asian rage, homophobia, immigrant exploitation among others.
Following will be Q and A with this amazing writer - note that copies of his books will be available for sale at the event, and to read the text in advance copies will be in circulation with our book club set. Please ask for a copy at the 2nd floor ask me desk a week prior to the event.
About the Author:

Eddy Boudel Tan writes stories from his book-filled apartment in the West End of Vancouver. His work depicts a world much like our own—the heroes are flawed, truth is distorted, and there is as much hope as there is heartbreak.
A second-generation Asian Canadian, Eddy celebrates diverse voices and provocative perspectives. He is proud to identify as queer and champion stronger LGBTQ+ representation in the arts. He's the author of The Tiger and the Cosmonaut, forthcoming from Penguin Canada. His novel After Elias (Dundurn Press) was a finalist for the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction and the ReLit Best Novel Award, while The Rebellious Tide (Dundurn Press) was a finalist for the Ferro-Grumley Award for LGBTQ Fiction. His short stories can be found in literary oases like Joyland, Yolk, Gertrude Press, and The G&LR, as well as anthologies from Arsenal Pulp Press and Wolsak & Wynn. Writers' Trust of Canada named him a rising star in Canadian literature in 2021.
Always eager to discuss his work, he has appeared at the Vancouver Writers Fest, The Word on the Street Toronto, Winnipeg’s THIN AIR Festival, Washington D.C.’s OutWrite Festival, AWP Conference & Bookfair, CBC Radio, and more.
