Indigenous Authors Series: Where to Begin? Processes of Discovery and Design in Fiction

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Brighouse

Description

Are you interested in writing fiction but unsure where to begin? Perhaps you have a rough idea that has been floating around and are looking to add depth and direction? In this generative workshop, author Selina Boan will explore how to embrace imperfection to generate idea outlines and begin the drafting process. Through a variety of focused creative writing prompts, inquiry and self-reflection, participants will experiment with different techniques to quiet the inner critic and ground our practice in discovery and design.

Selina Boan is a white-nehiyaw (Cree) writer, beadwork artist and educator. Her debut poetry collection, Undoing Hours won the 2022 Pat Lowther Memorial Award and the Indigenous Voices Award for Published Poetry in English. Her work has been published widely, and is included in The Best Canadian Poetry 2018 and 2020.

Registration required. This program is for adults.
