The John Hughes (-produced) remake of the classic 1947 film is better than I was expecting.
(I was already in university when Hughes first made a splash with his high school movies. So I don’t know his work all that well.)
This is not a…
Warning: The original Miracle on 34th Street has the exact same call number as the 70s remake. Therefore you are shooting craps if you reserve it since the person who is taking it off the shelf doesn't know which one you want.
Haven't watched it yet because I just realized you (at the library), have the wrong picture on this title!! You have the picture of the old, original movie, but the movie is the new version! I was ordering the old movie, thinking there…

There are really just a handful of Christmas movies threat are worthwhile. This is the true classic, better than any of the remakes. To me, its not Christmas until I see Its a Wonderful Life, and this movie.
Do yourself a favor, ignore…

----Miracle on 34th Street is a beautifully written gem of a picture, with a pitch-perfect balance between cynicism and human kindness. Edmund Gwenn IS Santa Claus in his Academy Award-winning performance, and Natalie Wood belies the…

I watched the black and white version and....lol. It's good. It's got the old time humour. The best part, it's clean! And it was shocking/funny when Santa hit a man for saying Santa didn't exist...oh my gosh. XD There's no torture,…

I may be in the minority, but I absolutely LOVE this movie! There is only one minor detail that could (and probably should)have been left out. That aside, this is a wonderful Christmas movie that will warm your heart. Mara Wilson is…

I think that it is a good idea to watch the black and white copy before the coloured copy. I say that because that is what I did yesterday , I thought that the B. W. Copy was more chistmasy than the colour copy. It has the Christmas…

1947's Miracle On 34th Street was made at an interesting time: immediately after WW II, when people desired warmth and reassurance, and between the highs of 1930s and early 1940s comedy, and the lows of 1950s smarm. It has a lot going for…
Hello. This is NOT the original 1947 version of Miracle of 34th. But a 1990s remake with Richard Attenborough playing Santa, Elizabeth Perkins as the mother, and Mara Wilson as the daughter. Good, but if you love the original not as good.

This is a delightful Christmas film. The plot will entangle the audiences' emotions, and the characters will keep the audience wondering. Also, the portions with William Frawley were especially enjoyable. This is a must watch around the…

This two disc set was terrific. Disc 1 was the colourized version of the 1947 classic and disc two was the original in B&W. The extras on disc 2 were fantastic, including the forgettable 1950's television adaptation.

What a wonderful idea of author Valentine Davies that possibly Santa Claus in a real person. In the hands of Davies book, Director George Seaton wrote a wonderful screenplay. It stars the best Santa on any film ever made in Edmund Gwenn.…
