A story that went nowhere. From the beginning we know what happened, who was the predator/murderer. The widow came across as extremely needy, the journalist too unbelievable and the police officer not really there. Characters not well…

I don’t recommend this book. It was very slow and I didn’t like jumping characters and times and found it hard to follow. I wished I had decided not to finish the book but found myself vested just enough to want to know who did it. I…

I picked up this book not really expecting the plot. Found it very difficult to get through because I disliked most of the narrators. I don't particularly like Detective novels, the chapters from Kate were cumbersome to read and I never…

I went into this book blind not really knowing what it was about. I think it was well written, and the audiobook narrators were great. The topic was what made me rate it so low. I just cannot feel sympathy for anyone involved in the crime…

This was an OK read. I kept expecting more of a twist at the end.

Good story. But the narrative is convoluted, flashing back and forth is confusing. The part of the DI's dogged pursue to find the missing baby is very well written and touching.

Very disappointed with the ending.

An interesting, multi-perspective crime novel about a little girl who vanishes from her front garden. Did her mother decide that raising a little girl alone was too much for her? Or perhaps it was a woman whose need for a child overwhelmed…

As the first novel by former Journalist, Fiona I think this narrative is modest and her story crafting skills are observable. And certainly, this is a complex and intriguing topic, the wife of a suspected paedophile and sex addict, so…

Excellent book in its genre. Very well written. Terrific characters. Very plausible plot. Combination of a missing child and the people involved in finding that child. Each chapter presents the view from one of the individuals, like…

An addictive read. Needed to keep focused on the timeline as it jumps around quite a bit but it built in tension as it progressed. Characters were well developed to the point that I really didn't like Jeanie or the revolting Glen. Ending…

Where do I begin? First of all, this was not a thriller by any stretch of the imagination. Nor was it suspenseful. (I'm disappointed in your blurb, Stephen King!) Having said that, until the end of the book it wasn't as disappointing…

This novel's topic of a criminal case leads people to think that it fits in the Suspense genre, but it really doesn't. We know from the beginning that the primary suspect doesn't go to prison, and common sense tells us that the child isn't…

A psychological thriller with a crime to solve in a British setting. The story was narrated by three characters. The widow who was supportive of a husband suspected of kidnapping and murdering a child, the reporter who was eager to get…

***Possible spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned*** For just one split second I almost thought Bella was alive somewhere because a part of me was hoping she was. Nope. What it was, instead was Jeanie’s poor tormented mind and the result…

I thought it was fantastic-loved the writing and the storyline. I'm also attracted to books set in the UK, so that was a bonus for me.

I really don't understand why this book is so highly rated. Admittedly, Barton creates interesting characters and her writing is quite easy to read (barring an annoying tendency to jump back and forth between first and third person…

Now that her husband is dead, Jean no longer has to play supportive wife to a not-nice husband. But will she tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

Excellent book!!! Loved the story and twists it took, very well written. A little hard to keep track of where you are in the story because each chapter is a different character and date, but overall very good. Can't wait to read her next…

Very predictable. Lacks the plot twists or surprises one expects from a good mystery or thriller. I was also unimpressed with the characterizations. No one seemed to have much of a personality, and I was surprised that the main character,…

This story could have been told in half the pages. The story went back and in forth in time and character focus but none of the characters were well-developed. In the end the outcome was exactly what I expected from the beginning.

I'm surprised I finished this book. No likeable characters, esp. the husband who has a thing for young (very young) children. No redemption at the end of the book either. Skip it.

Three perspectives about the abduction of a little girl from her backyard as told by a journalist, the mother and a detective on the case. This book was not very suspenseful to me nor was it compelling. I would not recommend.
