It took half way through the book for me to really get into it but when I did I really did enjoy this one. Well worth the read just disappointed some of questions you have about the other children aren't answered. Highly recommend!

This book is set in Mississippi back in the early 20th century, and therefore was a strange choice for me, as in addition to being a native to the Los Angeles area, I hadn't a clue about much in the state, besides the famous mud pie that…

It was a lot like Orphan Train because of the subject matter, and how the stories of characters from different times were woven together. It reminded me of Deception Point too, because it was about the daughter of a senator.
I felt that…

Excellent story....told from two different viewpoints, the first being present day. These initial chapters leading into the story were a bit dry and boring but after the first couple of chapters it became evident how that was relevant to…

This was a fantastic book! I got right into the story of this family that were taken from their parents and sent to the Tennessee Children's Home Society (an actual place) in the 1930s and, basically, were sold to rich people (adopted). …

Lisa Wingate is a very good author, and this book it based on actual things that went on in the 30s. I was sad to read about it, but glad that I did.

Very good book. Yet another story about families who were forced to give up their children and the abuses those children endured. “Looking for Jane” is another excellent book on this subject.
Loved this book.........very very much. Always think about it and will always have an everlasting imprint on my mind. I want to read more books like this.

The story line was good and because it is based on actual events, that rating gets increased to terrific. The book moves along well. It is a harrowing account of atrocities in the adoption system in Tennessee from 1930-1950. One of the key…
