Albeit a depressing plot with husband desertion, chronic illness and snotty adolescent, it's an engaging read. I'd recommend it for the beach or for a snowy winter weekend. It will definitely get your mind off of whatever you have going on and plunge you deep into this family's life. And the ending is pretty well worth it.
