Lonely bartender Bob Saginowski and his hardened employer cousin Marv run a bar that is used as a 'drop' - a covert scheme that funnels cash to local gangsters. But when they find themselves caught in a robber gone bad, and on the hook for a debt they can't even repay, both men have to make the dangerous choice between loyalty and survival.

I picked this up of the shelf because it had Tom hardy in it. I was pleasantly surprised. Great crime drama with a good twist at the end. James Gandolfino and Noomi Rapace are a match for Hardy.

The copy of this DVD that I received was so scratched that I was unable to watch the second half of the movie.

An outstanding crime drama with great script and strong cast. There's no shortage of reality and no usual pattern of Hollywood commercial flicks. All the actors including the dog deliver their best.

One of my favorites of Tom Hardy movies. Superb acting of all actors and the dog is just adorable. This is somewhat a semi, small town mob story but mostly the story of Bob who, quiet and lonely but VERY smart, whose heart opens to a puppy and a nice gal.

I was no surprisingly impressed with this movie. It was so predictable and even if you don't know what the next scene will be it doesn't matter. Is any bar not depressing with its routine of set 'em up and drink 'em down? Does anyone need another crime film with shots to the head and bad guys looking for some victim? I wouldn't want anything to do with Naomi Rapace.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film! It was well thought out and superbly acted. I liked the pace which allowed for many great subtleties which could be missed by some. Well worth my time and I would watch it more than once. If you didn't get the subtleties you might miss the greatness of this film which didn't simply rely on violence and sex but had a great story well told!

Did not watch- March 08, 2017
April 3, 2017 - I picked this up again by accident and spent 3/4 of an hour watching this boring, ridiculous, waste-of-time, "f" word filled movie. Terrible movie.

Tom Hardy can do no wrong. Fantastic actor and a terrific movie playground for us to see his talents. His Brooklyn accent [he is a Londoner] is just about spot on.
The movie is a wee slow at the beginning, but we are introduced by Hardy to the area, the bar, the workings of the bar and some of the characters. Whatever you do,don't drink alcohol watching this..have all your senses alert....pay attention...so much is said in the few lines spoken.
Just a masterpiece of a film. Tom Hardy's and the late James Gandolfini performances are Oscar worthy, but of course, no-one took notice of this small movie. The Academy Award Committee should hang their heads down.
10 out of 10

Good collection of quotes in IMDb as these:

Bob: [on looking after his new puppy] I mean, it's a huge responsibility, right?
Cousin Marv: Well, it's a dog. It's not like some long lost retarded relative shows up at your door in a wheelchair and a colostomy bag hanging out of his ass. Says "I'm yours now. Take care of me." It's not that. It's a dog.

Bob: I shot him in the face, twice. Then I wrapped his head in a towel, and I stabbed him in the chest in his heart, so he would bleed out, and I put him in my bathtub and watched him drain. Then I put him in an oil tank with laundry detergent and lye, and I sealed it back up.
