Normally Melanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura wouldn't be caught dead at a beauty pageant, but when Mel's mom asks them to provide cupcakes for the seventy-fifth annual Sweet Tiara contest as a favour for her best friend, they can't say no. But the world of pageants is even hotter than Mel's kitchen. A high-strung judge and a pushy stage mom target Lupe, a young friend of Mel and Angie's, at the competition and aim to take her out ... by any means necessary. Includes recipes.

I have read the whole "cupcake murder mystery" series and this was my favorite. These are easy and quick reading mysteries. The author leaves you wanting a little more each time.

Delightful read in the cupcake series. Well-paced and interesting plot. Love the characters. Several laugh out loud moments. Really liked the friendly rivalry and banter between boyfriends One, Two, and Three. How will Mel ever choose and the ending was a shocker.

The Cupcake Bakery Mysteries are entertaining overall. This one takes on beauty pageants, through the auspices of providing towers of cupcakes at the event, and preparing cupcakes whose recipes were created by the contestants. Mel seems to be a lightning rod for bad things to happen around her. And what's up with her serious boyfriend Joe and the two other men who call themselves her second and her third?
