Best Kung Fu novel since Jin Yong's oeuvre. This 5-volume set novel Wangdao Jian (The Benevolent Sword) is based on the actual event Jingnan Campaign (1399 - 1402 AD) during Ming dynasty. Recent excavation revealed new details about the mystery of Emperor Jianwen's disappearance. The novel is set in history but the philosophy and moral basis are typical Chinese teaching. Shangguan Ding is the pseudonym of three Liu brothers who penned three acclaimed and successful sets of Kung Fu novels in the 1960's. One of the Liu brothers, Liu Zhaoxuan, became the president of National Qing Hua University. Book 1 of 5.
