A cute little read. Quick paced, and a neat look inside country life. Back in 1938 children COULD just hitch a ride to town with someone or even ride the bus alone - but I was still so surprised to read that! because in this day and age, it's unheard of! Not much conflict in the story at all, and everything ends all rosy, but still, it's a good children's book to read.

Quick read, inspiring and well written! What a joy to get a picture into American farming life during the 1930's or so. Experiencing the State Fair (descriptions of the animals...) is worth it alone!
