In this inspired, genre-twisting film, Oscar-nominated writer/director Sarah Polley discovers that the truth depends on who's telling it. Polley is both filmmaker and detective as she investigates the secrets behind a family of storytellers. She playfully interviews and interrogates a cast of characters of varying reliability, eliciting refreshingly candid, yet mostly contradictory, answers to the same questions.

Someone else's family. I was not really that interested.

This quasi-documentary has one BIIIG problem - the sound is total crap. Almost everyone talks as if they have marbles in their mouths. If this item had subtitles (English, of course!) it might have redemption. As it is it was not worth watching past the 10 minute mark.

Couldn't get interested in this family. The film may be a great presentation of their saga, but I didn't stick around to see.

Sarah Polley's family documentary tells the story of her childhood and reveals the mystery of her paternity in a lovely, thoughtful film. The true beating heart of the film is a character study of the man Sarah Polley calls dad.

One of the most pretentious movies I've attempted to watch in recent times, couldn't get over the first 15 min.

I can see how some people would feel this is a case of TMI or silliness, but if you're interested in people and relationships and family dynamics, it's a pretty fascinating and well-woven (and nutty!) story. Some of the re-enacted scenes with Polley herself are a bit forced, but I thought most of the re-created home movies were well done. Sarah Polley has some very cool people in her life.

Just saw this yesterday. What a neat story!! Creatively told and well done. I can't wait for Sarah Polley's next project.

An excellent, well crafted documentary that shows the complications of life and love--and the capacity of human beings to accept each other's choices without judgment.
A good lesson for families in turmoil....

Boring, silly movie.
