The judge's wife took his confession much too calmly.

The subject of girls being raped in college is unnerving and especially by multiple guys. I have a daughter in college right now and this book highlights the legal and social aspects of such a horrible crime. I couldn't put this book down.

In enjoyed the moral conflict of sitting in judgement over someone who has committed a crime similar to what was done in his youth. But those were different times and different mores. This really held my attention and was well paced with interesting sub-plot following a chief gangster managing his gang from prison.

I really enjoyed this book. Scott Turow is more than a mystery writer. He is a novelist who writes mysteries, i.e., he tries to develop character and do more than just tell a good story. He certainly succeeded here.
