I just discovered Jorn Lier Horst after exhausting the other Nordic Noir authors I've read, and I quickly consumed the five books in his William Wisting series that have been translated to English. These books feature a mature detective, intricate plots, great scenery in southern Norway (all locations are real and findable on a map), and a couple red herrings sprinkled in to keep you guessing. The writing style is often reflective and builds suspense with short chapters and alternating viewpoints. The detective's daughter, a journalist, plays an important role as she uncovers clues in her search of a story.

If you enjoy the Inspector Sejer novels of Karin Fossum or the Kurt Wallander novels of Henning Mankell, you will surely enjoy Jorn Lier Horst.
