My third grade reluctant readers love Mary Amato’s Good Crooks series. “Missing Monkey,” Book One, sets the stage, but the three titles can be read in any order. A recent Reluctant, now an Eager, read a few pages of each title before deciding to begin with Book Two, with its most hilarious open. Amato knows reading should be, not a “subject” area, but fun for kids.
