The Rangers Apprentice series is a very fun, quick read. I have to say that the characters are sort of shallow, and are all pretty boring. They are less interesting to read about because their lack of faults and problems make them less lifelike. I recommend this series, but I would suggest reading other series with better characters and description like Beyonders (Brandon Mull) & The Inheritance Series (Christopher Paolini) Altogether it's fast-paced story telling is engaging, but it lacks real depth. Still a fairly good read with typical lessons of bravery, chivalry, honesty, and other things. It is a good read for younger audiences.

The start of an incredible, new life Will begins. This is astounding!

One of my favorite middle-grade fantasy books. Great cast of characters (though it leans very heavily toward a boy audience) and good pace to keep you wanting to read more. It is medieval fantasy but does have monster-like creatures. Great entry read for kids who may someday want to read Lord of the Rings or other adult high fantasy.

If you haven't read this, you haven't lived.
Also, it isn't just for boys, I love this series.

I used to read comic books all the time but when my mom introduced me to Ranger's Apprentice, I immediately started reading and checking out all the books at once. I think it fits boy's who are adventurous and full of being cool. Will is a little bit naughty and likes to sneak around. His skill fits a Ranger. Boys like to have awesome ninja skills like that.
This series is thrilling to the bone with battles, shooting skill, Wargals, and Kings and Queens, along with barons and different Masters ready for apprentices. Always fun, and very adventurous.

One of my favorite books! You grow with the main character as he finds where he fits, growing in his apprenticeship and building friendships and learning from his mentor.

Exciting, entertaining, and believable. Good, strong characters with not too many flaws (like some books I have read—ugh). A striking plot with a sadistic villain (always need one of those). Slightly predictable plot twists (I anticipated that Halt was the Ranger who led the King's cavalry to the battle, and I also foresaw the fact that Halt was the man whom Will's father had died for). Otherwise, a great read. I recommend it to any teen or adult who loves intense, adventure-filled fiction.

Other: Not for young children (as those who reported it to have "course language" who think words like "damn" and "stupid" are swear words. You should probably be reading picture books. Anyways, "course language" in dialogue does not matter. And also the violence is hardly inappropriate.

p. 173: Once you best a man, don’t gloat. Be generous and find something in his actions to praise. He won’t enjoy being bested, but he’ll make a good face of it. Show him you appreciate it. Praise can win you a friend. Gloating will only ever make enemies.
