Blockbuster bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon returns to the epic saga of the Dark-Hunters-and introduces a hero who is utterly out of this world.

His name is Cadegan. Centuries ago, he was viciously betrayed by the only person he'd ever trusted and was cast into an immortal prison. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But then he meets a woman who shakes him to the core...

Josette has been down on her luck, but she has made an unstable peace with the beast by taking a job photographing a local paranormal group. The only paranormal thing Josette believes in is the miracle that keeps her rusted-out hoopty running...until she meets Cadegan. Is he for real? Cadegan can't help but wonder the same about her: The last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him everything. He knows he has to stay away from Josette-for his own good, as well as hers-but the unleashed demon is hell-bent on consuming her soul. If one more innocent is taken, Cadegan's fate will make his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep Josette safe when just being with her is the greatest threat of all?

The writing of this was quite off, it was difficult to keep my interest. The plot line felt overly simplistic and ridiculous. I am a voracious reader but this one I struggled to keep reading--I kept wanting to just put it down and go do something else. I only finished it because of sheer stubbornness. I was just not impressed with the writing style, plot, characters, anything really, it just felt childish and over-the-top.

I find other books by Sherrilyn Kenyon quite similar, where the writing style just has me rolling my eyes (but the story is compelling and entertaining enough), but this one was just a struggle.

I just didn't find this one to be very well-written or even interesting to read. The writing and plot lines were very simplistic and it seemed like it took quite awhile to move the story from one point to another. Disappointing.

According to me this is book #24 of Dark-Hunter series or #6 Hellchaser, preceded by Styxx and followed by Dragonbane. Sexy story of Jo (Josette), spanky cousin to Selena, Tabitha, Amanda and Karma who gets thrown into a different dimension - the Hell dimension and is rescued by Cadegan, who is also there as a punishment. This was not my favourite of books, even though we got to see our favourite characters like Acheron, Syxx, Fang, Kat etc. I wanted to have "more" from the book, but I definitely got "less". Somehow, the main characters were not my favourite of the bunch.

At first I wasn't sure it was a Dark Hunter book as it was a bit off from her usual style but it totally kept my attention as I got into it. A very good read.. With mystery, intrigue. romance and a lot of characters I felt I should remember from others of her Dark Hunter books,, When it comes to the demons I lose track of who is who and who sired who and what realm who belongs too but I kept it together and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. I would recommend it. I love the Dark Hunter series. Cant wait for a follow up book

Wonderful novel! Read in a day. Great characters, great storyline. Jo was too funny. And as always, I fell head over heels for Cadegan. ahhh, love. Can't wait to read the next! A definite 5 stars!

Brother Eurig ~ No one ever gets over great pain, of any sort. It merely carves the soul into a stronger, better person

Brother Eurig ~ Honor is what separates us from beast. The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to actually be what we pretend to be. Let others laugh & mock those of us they perceive beneath them, but remember good Cadegan, honor lies inside our hearts & it is that which makes us act with mercy & compassion against those who have wronged us. Even if the jackal wounds your pride, do not reward such knavery by surrendering your honor to him. Only then have you truly lost all. Never let anyone take your soul, for they are not worth your eternity or your heart.
