“Keeper of the Lost Cities” is a book by Shannon Messenger. The main character is a girl named Sophie. She has lived a very abnormal life. For example, she is in college. At the age of 12. She can also read minds. When going on a field trip with her college class, she learns why she is so far ahead of other people, and why she can read minds: she is not human. When a stranger comes up to her during the field trip, introduces himself as Fitz, and says that they are both elves, Sophie panics and runs away, almost being crushed by a car. But then, her instincts trigger telekinesis that pushes the car away. Sophie has no choice but to go with Fitz to the lost cities, where the elves live in secrecy away from humans. Even in the lost cities, she is different. She has much more powerful abilities than other elves, and the reasons why she is so much more powerful and why she was living with humans is revealed in the end. This is the first book of a series with 8 books currently. I think it flows really well, and that the author did a good job of making the character relatable. The characters are a lot like normal people, with a wide range of emotions. I like this book because it is very well written, and I recommend it for people who like fantasy magic books.

This is very long series and the books are gigantic but it's worth it, trust me and I'm not one for big books. Shannon always meets your expectations in the unexpected way!
Go team SOFITZ!!!! But seriously you need to read this book!

Keeper Of The Lost Cities is definitely on of my favorite series. Its an amazing book filled with adventure, magic, mystery and I think its a great book for ages nine and up. Though this book takes place in a mythical elven world, it has valuable life lessons along with the story and I can often relate to the characters with the challenges they face. I really enjoy how every character has a unique personality and how they all have different relationships with each other. Anyway please read this book!!

Oh My Goodness!!!!! This book is amazing!!!!!! Definitely recommend for anyone who likes fantasy. It's a fresh new take on just about everything fantasy, from Elves to weapons to powers to tech. I loved this book. The plot is extremely engaging (shown by the fact that I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish it), and the writing style is down to earth and natural. Even though it's targeted at the middle school age range, I'd recommend this book to older teens as well. If you like fantasy, this is your book!!!!! :D

This book is one of my favourites! It keeps you reading and you can read just this book in the series and it has a good ending. You don't have to read the entire series to have an ending. It is a good fantasy and adventure book. 5/5 stars - SAPL Teen Read It & Review Contributor

Sexual Content: There is some crushes and kissing through out the series.

Other: 1. This book cannot be put down until you have finished it. 2. there is a little bit of violence in the series, so I would not recommend this to younger children 3. There is a little crushing and feelings and stuff, so if you are uncomfortable reading this kind of stuff, I suggest you don't start this series.

Other: This is an amazing book, the reader won't be able to put it down without major medical attention. I will say this: if you are a parent and would prefer it if your kids did not read books with girls having crushes on guys you may want to steer clear of this series

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks…

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.
