I found this book at a thrift store and it's become such a great resource! Not only does it contain traditional recipes that have been "veganized" but it also has recipes from different countries and cultures. I might not use every recipe (there are some recipes that have unusual or specialty ingredients) but it's definitely in my top ten list of must-read vegan cookbooks.

This is a great book for anyone new to Veganism. Plenty of handy references, and lists of what to stock. I have Isa's newer book, so I found this one a bit repetitive for me, personally.

I really loved this cookbook! It took me more than a week to write down all of the recipes I wanted, but now I have tons for my transition into veganism! I appreciate that most of the recipes rely on vegetables, while only about 35% are based on tofu, seitan, or tempeh.

The only recipe I have made so far is the cheater baked beans and they are FANTASTIC! I highly recommend the book!

This book helped me tremendously when I first became vegan. It is filled with a lot of very good information. My only criticism is that there are too many specialty ingredients and recipes are too complicated or time-consuming. I like to cook simple and healthy foods with out a lot of fuss. I still recommend reading the information in this book to anyone who wants to begin a plant-based diet. I have used their ideas to create dishes of my own.

I was given this book as a birthday present. Though there are some interesting and fairly tasty recipes inside, I found a lot of things required pricey ingredients that I would not use on a regularly basis. I gave the book away.

Hardback, wide pages, so it is easy to cook from. Lots of classic makeovers.

This cookbook is firmly positioned as one of my favourite vegan cookbooks of all time. With more than 250 recipes, it really is the "ultimate vegan cookbook." It's accessible yet sophisticated, and full of recipes that will impress vegans and non-vegans alike -- some complex dishes for fancier get-togethers, but lots of comfort food too. Favourite recipe so far: the cauliflower and mushroom potpie with olive crust. Delicious!

I bought this book as a newbie vegan and it has been under heavy-use ever since. I find the instructions accessible, the majority of the ingredients readily available in downtown Ottawa at Hartman's with a few trips to the local health food store. Overall I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to learn more about vegan cooking.

It is a BIG vegan cook book.

It contains from savory sauces and flaky potpies to lustrous pastas and fabulous finger foods.

Also has recipes for nourishing soups and delicious salads.

NOBODY in this household liked any recipes (just after one read).

thios wasn't a bd book. no shoving veganism as the only way to go down your throat like most of these types of books do. and they had soem decent recipes to boot.
