Magnus Bane is easily one of my favourite characters in the world of Shadowhunters. I mean, who doesn’t love a warlock who likes sparkly things and owns a cat named Chairman Meow? This book is hilarious.

I really love the Shadowhunter's world that Cassandra Clare has made, along side other fellow authors, and I can't wait to read the rest of the books she has published. I'm glad life has slowed down enough for me to pick up a few series I neglected to finished.

The wonderful Bane is one of my favorite characters. The back story with this book helps you understand him so much more.

Overall an enjoyable read. I really liked "What Really Happened in Peru" and "Saving Raphael Santiago", they were funny and heart-warming. Other stories were a bit long and boring. I didn't like the order of the stories though - I wished they'd been done in the order of when the stories took place i.e. I don't go from reading a story set in the mid-2000's to a story set in the 70-80's and then back to the mid-2000's.

I liked that although three different authors worked on this, two of whom are not the original creators, Magnus Bane seemed like the same Magnus Bane from The Mortal Instruments. However, the writing style was the same and even though that seems like a good thing, I felt like it was bad because I couldn't pick up on the writing styles of Brennan and Johnson. What's the point of three authors working on a book if it only sounds like it was written by one?

The last story in this book "The Voicemail of Magnus Bane" is my absolute favourite - I'm dying of laughter here! If you can't bear to read the other stories, just read this one. It's short and hilarious - I particularly loved Isabelle in this one!

are they any spoilers for the infernal devices series?

Overall, I gave this collection an average of 4.5/5 stars, due to the difference in appeal of each story. Although I highly enjoyed certain ones, such as the one of Will and Tessa being older, some did not appeal to me as much. The explanation of why Magnus Bane was banned from Peru was too repetitive and ongoing, and it did not strike me as much valuable. However, I enjoyed reading also about Magnus' past history, before The Mortal Instruments, with characters such as Camille. It really put into perspective the ways he may have viewed situations and did what he did later on. My favourite chapter would be the list of voicemails "difficulty retrieved from a phone burned severely with magical fire," that consisted of calls from Isabelle, Alec, Clary, an even Church (the cat). The humour put into it was clearly evident while reading, and it shows what was happening with "Malec", backstage from Clary's story. This was an altogether enjoyable book. 4.5/5 - @Siri of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

It gave a lot of backstory on Magnus, but it was also a little sad. Interesting addition to the book series.

My favorites are between the voicemails of Magnus Bane and his first date with Alec but am I the only one that skipped ahead to read everything on Alec and Magnus? I loved the book and it made me laugh out loud a million times. It was a spoiler because I hadn't finished the Infernal Devices series but that's okay (:

BEST BOOK EVER. The Malec stories were my favorite, but then, I can never get enough Malec. I was really hoping to know what actually happened in Peru, and while I guess the world will never know, the Peru story was hilarious. I laughed out loud in the middle of the library when Ragnor ate guinea pigs. I did find a couple of the stories boring, since I didn't read the Infernal Devices. Even after reading this wonderful book, I would still have to say that the extra scene on Cassandra Clare's website is my favorite Malec moment. Well, there's my long and rambling review. I love this book with all my heart. Peace

To them, as to Magnus, time was like rain, glittering as it fell, changing the world, but something that could also be taken for granted.

"The Lightwoods are seriously hot people. Some people say the Herondales used to be hot, but think about it-not only do we outnumber them, but we took their last hottie and we made him ours. Obviously, we won the victory.” -Isabelle
