This manual will help DMs come up with interesting yet balanced monsters to throw at their party of adventurers. Note that it is for 4e, which is a controversial edition. For all its faults, 4e did have some fun and unique monsters.

My personal recommendation is to play 5e, but feel free to modify some of the monsters to bring in some of the 4e flair. Matt Colville has a good YouTube video about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoELQ7px9ws
