Rooftoppers is one of my favourite books of all time. It’s realistic and poetic at the same time and I think Rundell’s style of writing is simply beautiful. Rooftoppers is the story of young Sophie’s search to find her mother who was presumed dead after being on a boat that sank. Sophie is a very intelligent and stubborn girl. If you told her she couldn't do something, she would do it anyway, or she would argue with you as to why she should be allowed to do such things. I also appreciated how different each of the characters are and how they each have their own personalities. I feel it’s a very different book from what I typically like to read, but it still nails action and fighting scenes. I sometimes wish I could be more like Sophie and find beauty in the little things. Overall, Rooftoppers is a beautiful, simply written book that I think everyone should read at least once. I’d definitely give it a 5/5.

This is a stellar book, and reading it from the point of an extraordinary girl in Paris was very interesting (especially in this time century). It was also like I was sometimes reading from Matteo's point of view, and the exciting expeditions they went on was so fun to read. Throughout the whole book, I found myself comparing myself to the characters in 'Rooftoppers' and sympathizing with some of them. It really gave insight on life in the 20th century, especially for the less fortunate. And although this takes place in a completely different time, I think readers can somewhat connect the Rooftoppers' struggles and way of life with the homeless/disadvantages of our time. The book can help readers realize how fortunate they are and even think about how to help with the issue. It's also beautifully written and the scenery that the author creates is wonderful! 10/10, would recommend.

really spoke to me I have read it many times because so good. I love Katherine Rundells books have read all of them I think

This is by far the most beautiful book I’ve read in a long while. Katherine Rundell has an utterly unique and lyrical prose style that reminds me of Oscar Wilde. I was charmed and maybe you will be too. (submitted by LG)

The characters were realistic and relatable. And I love the way the author added the music aspect. If you haven't read it you should, and if you have: do it again!

This book is full of interesting characters with unique relationships, on top of being an engaging story with a generous portion of mystery and a little action, too. It's the story of an odd little girl being raised by an odd man, who both embark on an odd and seemingly impossible quest--only to find much more than they thought was possible. It's no action thriller or fantasy drama, but it is an excellent adventure with characters who are likely to become new friends.

It was not my favorite book. I read the first three chapters and gave up, but then again this is not my type of genre.

Ditto to all the positive comments already expressed. One more thing I loved: When the quest was over, the book ended. No anticlimactic ending to steal from the experience.
