The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell is a coming of age novel about Carrie Bradshaw. She's in her senior year dealing with typical teenage drama; boyfriends, mean friends, dysfunctional families, and an uncertain future. I really like Carrie because she is so strong-willed, independent, and ambitious. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself and she did whatever it took to achieve her dreams. Her ability to pick herself up and put a smile on her face despite all the obstacles she encountered, makes her a role model for women of all ages to look up to. She inspired me to believe in myself more and know that anything is possible. I would definitely recommend this book to teenage girls as most teenage girls will relate to the experiences that Carrie goes through in her teenage years. I was struggling to read the book in the first half and I found it boring; however, the second half was better and I found it pretty interesting. Rating: 4 stars

Sex and the City was the hugely popular TV series featuring Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist who writes about her relationships in a New York newspaper. But where did Carrie come from? Did she grow up in New York? No, she grew up in a small town somewhere in the state of New York and moves to the city when she is accepted into a school for writers. Her plans are to attend university immediately afterwards, but I haven't read that far yet. This book describes her teenage years, and it is an enjoyable read. None of her high school friends remain as her adult friends, but it was still fun to discover that the aunt of her teenage nemesis is the sexpot, kindhearted, and smart Samantha Jones. Samantha is the first friend Carrie makes upon moving to New York city. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

When it came to the show you fell in love with the idea of Carrie & Sebastian but for the book Sebastian is just a complete dick. I'll find a new girl since you won't sleep with me?! None the less with her best friend?!

I've never been a follower of the Sex and the City show so the story worked OK with me. Candace Bushnell is a very good writer. The Carrie Diaries is a good entertaining read and it will keep you turning the pages.

A cute, quick read about Carrie when she was younger. It wasn't as great as I thought it'd be though.
