A serial killer is targeting young Vanderbilt University coeds, one of whom is the daughter of a major university benefactor and Texas oilman. Lt. Taylor Jackson, Nashville cop, and Dr. Samantha Owens, medical examiner, face a huge public relations nightmare. Taylor, struggling with departmental strife, is asked to partner with troubled FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin, who is back in Tennessee after a disastrous investigation accident. Owens is perplexed by the odd ritualistic evidence present on the victims. Together, they must work around the clock to find the killer before another girl dies.

If you're reading the series in order, you need to read this 1st. It's the 1st book she wrote, but you don't know that till the authors notes at the end. Tho I wish she had released it as the prequel or mentioned at the beginning why we're back in time. Even if you don't read it 1st, it's good to know how Taylor began. Good story..keeps you reading.

Really enjoy this authors books. The challenges that the main character finds herself dealing with in her job and personal life. This book is set in Nashville where she is a member of the police department. Her relationship with co-workers, friends and her boyfriend seem to complicate the job. They all work hard and play harder to catch the criminal and find the solution to the crime/

Would someone please tell those cops to quite throwing butts all over the place.
A thriller in every sense of the word. She even throws in a tornado to make it more interesting.
It demonstrates that chasing madmen on a daily basis is not a nine to five job. Weary but wary they trudge on.
Excellent!
