Jack Reacher hunts the hunter in the third novel in Lee Child's New York Times bestselling series.

Ex military policeman Jack Reacher is enjoying the lazy anonymity of Key West when a stranger shows up asking for him. He's got a lot of questions. Reacher does too, especially after the guy turns up dead. The answers lead Reacher on a cold trail back to New York, to the tenuous confidence of an alluring woman, and the dangerous corners of his own past.

If you are a Jack Reacher fan you will like this book. If you are not, you haven't read a Jack Reacher book before; time to start now and Tripwire is a great place to start. It has all the elements of the usual Reacher stories - suspense, thrill, technical details and the triumph of good over evil. All in all a good page-turner.

I really like the Jack Reacher series. Even "not the best" is sometimes hard for me to put down. That being said, this is me nit picking (but it's the internet so I'm allowed to, right?). The part where Jodie, a beautiful and stylish high-powered NY lawyer with an office on Wall Street, left the house for work with wet hair, made me cringe. Also, when she wore a sexy midnight blue silk dress with LOAFERS to the fancy French restaurant... like, huh?

Not the best of the Reacher series, but since i'm a big fan of his, it was okay.

Reacher flying first class-this is something new. An old flame and a very evil bad guy help keep you reading/ I would bet we see this lady again as Reacher is also stuck with real property. Will Reacher settle down-no way-stay tuned! Avoid the movie as Reacher is a mere shadow of his real self played by a small elf.

I like Jack Reacher as a character despite the impermanence he maintains with persons or places in his life. There are some super cruel persons in the story, yet Child manages to end up with Reacher taking steps to a warm ending for some characters. Terrific and continuous action in this Child novel, as always.

I have yet to meet a Jack Reacher novel that I didn't love. (Heck, I even enjoyed the Jack Reacher movie - despite the horrible casting of Tom Cruise as Jack... a major part of Jack's persona is his SIZE!)

I have read the main series twice now (currently on third round) and realized that I had never Reviewed these, so determined to do so during this reading of the series.

I find an interesting element in my readings that I seem to subconsciously have minor (usually minor) technical type errors pop out at me. I am amazed that the author (who clearly does a lot of research) does as good a job as he does in this subject when he was never in the military much less the U. S. Army or the MPs.

(I think that was because I had experience in both the military and law enforcement, so those things popped out at me - other things were just in other areas of personal interest)

A good continuation to an interesting character.

This is one of those books where it does so much better in a "series format" as the character development is (to varying degrees) ongoing to a fair degree.

Anyway, it's a good combination of action, mystery, and drama.

In any case, I would highly recommend the reading of this book (and also primarily in the series order... some books in the series can be good "stand alone" ones, but not as well as in the series setting - very much like the Richard Sharpe series).

A fantastic Jack Reacher book ... Action from the first chapter...
What I cannot understand is how Tom Cruise was cast to play the Reacher character in the movie... Does not fit the description at all... Should have been a role for Dwayne Johnson ( if he could actually act ) ...

This book is a "get it for sure "

Definitely my favourite Reacher book so far...'Hobie' is a brilliantly evil character

As a big fan of Jack Reacher, I found this story excessively and unnecessarily tedious and long. For example, there is nearly a chapter on bones that would put a physical anthropologist to sleep. The sadistic nature of one of the main characters gets excused so he can be hailed as a hero? Not in my eyes. This is my lowest Reacher rate to date. 2 of 10 stars

Is Reacher tough or not:

“A picture of you, my friend,” the doctor said. “That’s what. The damn bullet didn’t even make it into your chest. Your pectoral muscle is so thick and so dense it stopped it dead. Like a three-inch kevlar vest. It popped out the other side of the muscle wall and smashed a rib, but it went no farther.”

Jul 11, 2014

The bullet launched sideways under his raised left arm and hit the distant garage about the same time his right elbow hit the guy in the face. An elbow moving fast ahead of 250 pounds of diving body weight does a lot of damage. It glanced off the frame of the screen and caught the guy in the chin.
