Gorgeous, deep book. Illustrations as intriguing as the written content.

Unbelievably good science read. You will learn things (as an adult) that you've never heard before and it will change your view of how the world works. This book should win the 2012 Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal!

Read it and begin to treasure the phytoplankton.

This is absolutely everything I want my own theoretical nonexistent nonfiction book to one day be. Rhythmic prose, jaw-dropping facts, artwork that perfectly matches the overall feel of the book. I HAD NO CLUE PHYTOPLANKTON WERE SO AWESOME!
