There are many reasons why this shouldn't work. Mixing together the Dark Knight and a concept as ludicrous and dated as the Turtles? If you find the latter franchise irritating (particularly in light of the Michael Bay nonsense), you might think that this is to be avoided. And yet it works. This has the Turtles, their master, and an adversary crossing over into the DC universe and Gotham City into an encounter with Batman and his world. The writers tone down the speaking style (which can be grating) of the Turtles, while giving them a personal stake and a common bond with Batman. It shouldn't work, and yet it does.
