This is one clever cookie. Smart, brave, resourceful, knowing and able to learn from the mistakes of her witless brother, the Gingerbread Girl makes a new spin on an old tale. The story ends with a surprise twist (of licorice!) as she proves that she’s kind and thoughtful as well. Colorful illustrations help child readers race along as the story follows the titular character as she evades a number of unlikely pursuers. Little girls will take special enjoyment from seeing a female character come out on top.
