Bo found himself in a hard position when he had to start taking care of his kid sister, unfortunately, he made the decision to walk away from a college scholarship and turn to dealing drugs to try to make quick money. That is the context of this film, which follows Bo as he tries to get his way out of this life he finds himself in, one he thought he would only be stuck in for a number of months until he and his sister could get on their feet. Bo meets Holly, who is in a similar struggle to escape poverty and the abuses she faces, but feels like she cannot escape. It is a well told story, a moving portrait of troubled souls who make troubled decisions, but somewhere in their troubled hearts, still feel like they are trying to do good and right by themselves and the people who rely on them. Dule Hill is excellent as Bo's "boss." Seychelle Gabriel is fantastic as Holly. Jacob Latimore and Sasheer Zamata are adequate in their roles. Overall, I found the movie very entertaining and enjoyable. The control Bo has with his "magic" is a little over the top, but it is a fictional movie, so I found it easy to go with the conceit. I was only strongly disappointed with the ending... I realize alluding to a wondrous thing, without showing that wondrous thing, is a conceit used in films, but it always feels cheap and like a cheat to me - that the screenwriters (one of whom is the director) could not come up with a wondrous enough thing to actually show it to you on camera, so they take the cheap way out and just show someone's reaction to the wondrous thing that occurs off-screen. It is a personal peeve of mine which left me with a disappointed feeling at the end of the movie, instead of just the feeling of having enjoyed a genuine attempt to tell a heartfelt story about the troubling decisions people make when poverty and misfortune have left them in desperate circumstances. JD Dillard (one of the writer and the director) has another film coming out in 2019. Based on this film, I would absolutely give that film a try.

This movie was hard to watch. It's difficult to understand the mindset of a street drug dealer. Knowing that you are gifted with a magic skill and than turn to sell drugs. This teen has great potential, instead turns to crime; what a shame! It's your family and friends that pay for your convictions, in the end.

It is hard to like a movie when you hate the drug dealing main character.

I enjoyed this film, a good storyline and acting, for the budget it really performed.

Good original movie, but I expected more.

Again BitCrime beats me to it. A low budget teen drama that got the flavor of the beginning of a poor inner city young Tony Stark. So-so "last score and out" film with unbelievable low-budget magic ... than the Iron Man.

O.K. inner city drama with protagonist a magician, but also a drug dealer. (How does that work)? I kept asking myself if this guy wants to get out of the drug business, why doesn't he use his considerable other talents. Supporting cast shines, but mainly happy ending not indicative of reality, imho.

I enjoyed this movie. The movie demonstrated how easily it is to make the wrong decision to try and survive. The ending was vague. I'm sure it was to make room for a Sleight 2. Watching this movie reminded me of the cartoon Static Shock.

Interesting movie regarding what this kid did to be different. Love that most were actors I had never seen before.
