Please get the remaining part of the series. The end of Season 1 leaves everyone hanging.

Loved Series one, hoping the Library gets Season 2

I cannot attest to the historical accuracy of 'The Crown,' however, I found watching the actor performances, in particular Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, to be totally captivating.

Absolutely loved watching this series about Queen Elizabeth the Second, the actors play their roles beautifully especially Claire Foy and John Litgow as Winston Churchill. Looking foward to seeing more of this series at it progresses.

This film forced me to do a lot of historical research to answer questions I had after viewing: the sign of an excellent story. Had never known that they were considered anointed by God! Found it all so fascinating, especially Elizabeth's limited education and useless Prince Philip. She certainly comes across as a hero in this story.

Unlike most people, this series took me about two or three episodes to care about it. Churchill's 80th birthday storyline was beautifully written and acted. The best episode of season one by far. Without Lithgow (and at times Foy's subtle performances), this series would still be beautifully shot - but painfully dull. I did also enjoy seeing familiar locations and sets from Four Weddings and Funeral, MI-5, Downton Abbey, Monarch of the Glen, etc.

I really enjoyed this series and look forward to seeing Season 2. WEll-researched and well acted; excellent sets and costumes. Filled in some gaps in my knowledge of the current royal family. I thought John LIthglow was especially amazing as Churchill.

As a stickler for historical detail, and devoted Anglophile, I wasn't sure what I would think of this series. I needn't have worried-- this is a terrific, well-done series centering on Queen Elizabeth II and the Windsors, picking up the action just before the death of George VI and her coronation. I have a few minor quibbles, such as about modern behaviors creeping in here and there that seem a bit anachronistic, but the overall product is so engrossing, beautifully shot, and well-acted, that they are quickly forgotten as you become caught up in the endless drama that is the British Royal Family. With 70+ years of Elizabeth's reign and related history to draw from, this series may have no end in sight. I hope the subsequent episodes continue to be as high quality as this first season.

Remember? What Papa called us.
- Yes.
Elizabeth is my pride and Margaret is my joy. But Margaret is my joy. I'm sorry. I have to claim the few victories I'm left with. And we're not disputing it, surely?
- What?
That I was Papa's favourite. There's a cruel truth to it, isn't there? When there are two sisters so close in age, the more one becomes one thing, the more the other necessarily becomes the opposite and vice versa. It's the way of things. If one is the Queen, must be the source of honour and all that is good, the other necessarily becomes the focus of the most creative malice. Evil sister.
- No one says you're evil.
Next to you, I will always be evil. Feckless lost lesser thing. And yet you spend so much time telling me that I'm a lesser thing.
-Only to give myself a moment's peace.
Would you consider doing it for me? Just from time to time.
- What?
Putting a foot wrong. The occasional mistake. Let the side down. So I might not be so conspicuous a failure by comparison.

Not many quotes in IMDb or wikiquote. Here is a few among many I found memorable:

Dearest Lilibet, I know how you loved your papa, my son. And I know you will be as devastated as I am by this loss. But you must put those sentiments to one side now, for duty calls. The grief for your father's death will be felt far and wide. Your people will need your strength and leadership. I have seen three great monarchies brought down through their failure to separate personal indulgences from duty. You must not allow yourself to make similar mistakes. And while you mourn your father, you must also mourn someone else. Elizabeth Mountbatten. For she has now been replaced by another person, Elizabeth Regina. The two Elizabeths will frequently be in conflict with one another. The fact is, the Crown must win. Must always win.

"There are two elements of the Constitution:" wrote Walter Bagehot in 1867. "The efficient and the dignified. Which is the monarch? Your Royal Highness?
- The dignified?
Very good. The efficient has the power to make and execute policy and is answerable to the electorate. What touches all should be approved by all.
The dignified gives significance and legitimacy to the efficient and is answerable only?
- To God.
Precisely. Two institutions, Crown and government, dignified and the efficient, only work when they support each other. When they trust one another. You can underline that.
- Do you teach this to your other pupils?
No, just you. This is what I teach them. These are exam papers.
- Shouldn't I know all of this, too?
No, Ma'am. All very undignified.

Does the name Donora mean anything to you?
-Donora? Oh, of course I remember Donora. It was a scandal. A small mill town in America, outside Philadelphia?
-They had a smog brought on by a freak anti-cyclone which trapped the emissions from the local copper work
- ... in the fog. In a few days a number of people died.
Twenty. And several thousand became seriously ill from the poisonous fog.
After the incident a cross-party delegation was sent to Donora on an urgent fact-finding mission. They recommended that clean air zones be set up all round London, as a precautionary measure.
- I never saw the report.
With good reason. Our Prime Minister threw it away, claiming it wasn't a priority.
The choking, eye-watering fog which has already caused two days of chaos across the capital has worsened overnight. The great coal-burning electricity stations in Battersea and Fulham, have attempted to reduce emissions of poisonous sulphur dioxide from their chimneys.

I accepted this commission because I admired you and I came through the experience admiring you even more.
-You make monsters of everyone you admire? It's not vindictive.
It's art. It's not personal.
-Well, you are a lost soul. A narcissist without direction or certainty.
Please, sir. Don't overreact. Give it time. I showed those sketches to your wife throughout. She remarked on how accurate they were.
-That is the whole point. It is not a reasonably truthful image of me!
It is, sir.
- It is not! It is cruel!
Age is cruel! If you see decay, it's because there's decay. If you see frailty, it's because there's frailty. I can't be blamed for what is. And I refuse to hide and disguise what I see. If you're engaged in a fight with something, then it's not with me. It's with your own blindness.

Not many quotes in IMDb or wikiquote. Here is a few among many I found memorable:
Well, in the name of the people that live with you and love you, might I suggest not being Head of the Church for a minute. Or Head of State, or Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, or the Army, or the Navy, or the overnment, or the Fount of Justice, or the whole damn circus, frankly.
- And be what?
A living, breathing thing, a woman. A sister. A daughter. A wife.
Your uncle has let us all down. He put love before family. Now I want you to promise me one thing that you will never put anyone or anything before one another. You are sisters above all else. And must never let one another down. Understood?
