A gripping page-turner for fans of THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW and THE PERFECT NANNY , Michelle Sacks's You Were Made For This provocatively explores the darkest sides of marriage, motherhood, and friendship.

Doting wife, devoted husband, cherished child. Merry, Sam, and Conor are the perfect family in the perfect place. Merry adores the domestic life: baking, gardening, caring for her infant son. Sam, formerly an academic, is pursuing a new career as a filmmaker. Sometimes they can hardly believe how lucky they are. What perfect new lives they've built.

When Merry's childhood friend Frank visits their Swedish paradise, she immediately becomes part of the family. She bonds with Conor. And with Sam. She befriends the neighbors, and even finds herself embracing the domesticity she's always seemed to scorn.

All their lives, Frank and Merry have been more like sisters than best friends. And that's why Frank soon sees the things others might miss. Treacherous things, which are almost impossible to believe when looking at this perfect family. But Frank, of all people, knows that the truth is rarely what you want the world to see.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Extremely Disturbing!

Merry and Sam have moved from New York to a remote home in Sweden, a wonderful place to raise their new baby Conor. Everything is simply perfect - or is it? When Merry’s childhood friend Frank comes for a visit, the flaws in this perfect life are exposed.

Darkly disturbing events take place, and life in idyllic Sweden will never be the same.

Pros: Sparse but extremely effective writing - a fabulous debut by this author.

Cons: Extremely disturbing, not a book to be entered into lightly.

You Were Made For This is a book you will be thinking about long after the final page has been read. Truly haunting.

This was the first book I've read since I remember picking up VC Andrews in my middle school years that left me sitting on the sofa, mouth agape, just in awe of what was happening. This is one of the most twisted books I've ever read, but somehow, I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book, and I'm excited to read more by this author.

At first, all you're told is that a happy couple - Merry and Sam - have moved to Sweden to live a beautiful, happy life. As the story unfolds and Merry's best friend Frank is introduced, it becomes clear that there's much more to the story than initially meets the eye. This entire book is an unfolding of a deep, dark history - a past that will leave you feeling as if your heart has been in a blender.

This book is certainly not for the faint of heart. It is difficult to read at times. It is by far one of the most twisted things you'll ever read, but at the heart of it, it's somehow relatable at the same time. Prepare to settle in... you won't be getting up from this one for a while.
