In the wake of his estranged father's death, successful Los Angeles executive Neil Mercer (Ross Partridge, Stranger Things) travels to the Midwest for the first time in years to help sell the family home. To Neil, his homecoming is more than just an inconvenience-it interrupts the work, whiskey, and women that serve as a coping mechanisms to help him forget a painful past. When his younger brother, James, is unexpectedly called back to Chicago, Neil finds himself marooned in the house with Rebecca, James' fiancee, a wickedly smart, fiercely independent woman whose impressive facade matches Neil's in its power to mask the damaged, desperate spirit hiding beneath. Set against the bleak backdrop of wintry rural Michigan, The Middle Distance takes an honest, unsentimental look at adulthood, the meaning of family, the ache of nostalgia, and the peril and promise of two lost souls finding each other in the darkness.

Add a CommentA morning type of movie to watch to help you wake up in the morning. It is about a middle age successful man who goes back to his childhood home after 18 years and reminisces with his childhood. The ending did have a different ending from where the audience may have thought it was leading to.
a good movie with deep relationships kept me interested
...Tried to watch this movie...1st 10 minutes seemed to be an ad for liquor brands...too slow, poor acting, very boring...I don't know how the producers get funding for these amateurish films...Rating 1/2 Star.....
