Most men can't handle Hazel. With the energy of a toddler and the mouth of a sailor, they're often too timid to recognize her heart of gold. New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Roomies, Beautiful Bastard) tells the story of two people who are definitely not dating, no matter how often they end up in bed together.Hazel Camille Bradford knows she's a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren't up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don't send them running, her lack of filter means she'll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She's a good soul in search of honest fun. Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air. Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there's nothing between them...right?

I loved this book from the very first chapter and was hooked right away! I totally want to be friends with Hazel, and Josh seems to be the perfect catch. The authors did a great job of making both characters so loving and adorable that you are rooting for them from the very beginning. Fair warning, the sex scenes are....um, pretty steamy. You've been warned. I would totally recommend this book (and the Unhoneymooners by the same author).

I loved this book so much! It grabbed me from the very beginning, had me laughing out loud and falling for Josh, Hazel and their crazy but endearing story. Christina Lauren’s best yet!

After just having completed a nauseatingly terrible romance, I was looking for anything to wash out the aftertaste.

This gem of a novel did just that and more.

We follow Josh and Hazel's story as they navigate through bad beak-ups, exes, co-habitation and disastrous blind double dates.

This book was so fun and cute and fluffy and everything I needed. I adored Hazel in all her quirkiness, and her family of fur babies. The dynamic between Josh and Hazel manages to be hilarious and tender all at the same time. The only thing that kept me from giving a four star review was how story ended. I didn't hate the ending, just found it unnecessary.

Still an incredibly cute read.

This book, while full of language that I believe could be without (some), was heartfelt. I identified with Hazel as being a bit eccentric and outspoken, not sure of what she'll do or say. I see Josh as many of my friends who can only stand there and chuckle, but if they take the time, they see a strong, loyal, and intelligent person beneath the zany persona. I thought the idea of setting each other up on "compatible" dates, growing worse with each try, was adorable, and provided laughs I needed during this lockdown. A sweet read, with bits of heart and depth behind the laughter.

Such sizzling chemistry! I wish Josh was my boyfriend and that Hazel was my best friend. I laughed and laughed a lot more. Will be reading much more of Christina Lauren soon.

This was the cutest thing I've read in so long. I flew through it, enjoyed every second, and wish that I could live in Josh and Hazel's world for the first time all over again.

Josh Im and Hazel Bradford are not dating. They met when Hazel was a freshman in uni, after which she puked on his shoes, sent him an embarrassing email, and got caught having sex with his roommate. Now, seven years later, Hazel is the same as she's always been, which is basically chaos personified, while Josh is quiet, reserved, and generally put together. When Hazel learns that Josh is the brother of her best friend Emily, she decides right then that they are going to be best friends, and the adventures begin.

I think I must have just really needed a good romance in my life, because this one hit the spot perfectly. I adored Josh and Hazel as characters. I wondered if Hazel would rub me the wrong way when I read the synopsis, but she's actually just a ray of sunshine, so wonderfully, unapologetically herself, and I immediately loved her. Josh Im is Perfection Personified and just the most perfect human I could have ever imagined. Multiple times I just wanted to reach into the book and rip him out of it so I could have him for myself.

I think this one works so well because of them, honestly. Because the plot is fine and fun - two friends who are obviously in love deny it consistently, try to set each other up with other people, fail, and have numerous adventures in between - but it has this heart to it that is rare in some romances. Every interaction between Josh and Hazel feels so genuine that it elevates this from a cute romp to something that actually tugged at my heartstrings.

And on top of it all, it made me laugh out loud at multiple points and send entire pages to my boyfriend because I couldn't handle how ridiculously hilarious it was. If that's not a sign of a good book, I don't know what is. The authors write in the acknowledgements about how much they laughed writing this, and it truly does show. This is a book that shines in so many ways. I loved it.

Guys this boooooook!!!!!! 2019 was the year I discovered Christina Lauren, and 2020 will be the year I (attempt) to finish their entire backlist haha. This book was absolutely hilarious! I didn't think anything could be as good as The Unhoneymooners, but this one definitely came close! When I first started this book I thought that Hazel's character was a little too much, but she slowly grew on me and eventually had me laughing out loud. If I had one complaint it was that the ending seemed a tad abrupt, but don't worry because there is a super cute epilogue that follows! I thought this was such a fun read, and I'm so glad i finally picked it up. This was the perfect pick-me-up in this dreary winter weather haha!

CL did an amazing job bringing Hazel to life. This story is laugh-out-loud funny so please don't read this anywhere you are supposed to be quiet. Loved that the male lead was Korean. Genuinely a wholesome, entertaining story.

I got a kick out of this story because Hazel could have been the Manic Pixie Dreamgirl she was set up to be, but she was more fleshed out, and thumbs up for having the male counterpart be Korean - really lovely to have some non white leads! It was a fun slow burn of a romance.

Pure fun! Six stars! Sparkling dialogue, some of the scenes are laugh out loud funny, 2 lovable mains, no tension, no angst, just beautifully written pure romantic fun. CL writes some of the best sex scenes in contemporary romance -- super sexy and yet they positively glow with love. Another CL winner! IOTB

I learned a very important thing that day: my mom would never try to change for a man, and I wouldn’t, either.
