This might be the worst book I've ever read. I never would have finished it if not obligated to do so by my book club. It was physically painful. I grew to despise the protagonist, who, as the story progressed, not only failed to improve and learn from her mistakes, she actually got worse. There were a couple of side characters that I didn't find objectionable, but they hardly made plodding through this 300 page nightmare worth my time. The story meanders without any real structure, direction, or resolution. It just sort of whimpers and deflates. The author's writing is subpar. She tells rather than shows us what happens, summarizing scenes and conversations more than letting us watch them unfold, and the structuring of her dialogue is confusing and distracting. The book is amateurish on many levels; I can't believe it got published. Do yourself a favor and skip it.

The main character comes across as hostile, dishonest to herself and others, a real self-saboteur, and there are plenty of less than admirable characters in the rest of the cast. The writing is as sharp as ever but the story just didn't come together for me in this one.

Such an annoying book! First off, the main character is a whiny millennial. I should have stopped reading right there. But no, silly me, I carried on to the end. The whiner throws into a dumpster an old annotated high school yearbook that belonged to her mother. A neighbour in her building dumpster-dives, finds it and decides to make a podcast about her mysterious find. The whiner decides that it's her book EVEN THOUGH SHE THREW IT AWAY and eventually steals it back. Oh! and the whiner lives across the hall from a super nice and dishy actor who falls in love with her even though she is rude and acts stupid around him. Somehow the whiner gets rewarded for being immature, selfish, rude and, yes, whiny. Ugh! Skip this book.

I did not finish this book as it was more about things happening around the main character rather than her DOING anything. Ugh. Also, Riverdale is shot in Vancouver so unless there's a later reveal about the one dude being a liar, there's no flipping way he's be an extra in NYC. Don't waste your time here, and like the title says, bid good riddance to this one.

An entertaining romantic comedy full of zany characters and plot twists.

Honestly, I was disappointed. It seems unfinished and rough. The premise is intriguing, but I felt like it was more about some whiny 30-something's daily boring life than about the actual drama that happened years ago with her mother. I felt that her mother was the most interesting person in the book, yet we don't actually get to know her or her former students. The main character's romance seems more like a relationship of convenience than anything special. I wouldn't bother a second time.

A charming romantic novel. It was a lovely break from the world.

Cute, light story about a daughter's inheritance of and future causing events of her mother's yearbook. Not just any yearbook - one that can reveal secrets and can cause some to put it out as a blog or other media sensation. Put together well.

If I were a person who spoke to the dead, I’d tell my mother that her husband, who had loved her and forgiven her, who hadn’t been especially rewarded for that, was, on this cold December night, as lighthearted as I’d ever seen him.
