Enjoyable and engrossing story. Felt a little like Forest Gump in that it touched on every single social trend of recent decades - that felt a tad distracting to me, but overall, enjoyed this saga over time of two sisters and their varying life experiences.

This story touches on three generations of women in a family, with the main story line centering around two sisters. Jo and Bethie are cut from different cloth and occasionally their relationship suffers for it, but the bonds of sisterhood keep pulling them back to each other as we follow their lives throughout the decades. The author did a great job with the characters and the sense of time and place was wonderful. It was an immersive and enjoyable read.

This was one of my favourite books, a wonderful saga of two sisters through trials and tribulations and decades. A wonderful depiction of being a mother, a sister, a daughter, a woman. It was my first book by this author but I loved her ability to make you feel like you lived in that decade with her descriptions of her surroundings . Having grown up through this same timeframe I could identify with her feelings of the time. Worth a read.

I am also a huge fan of Jennifer Weiner and have enjoyed every one of her novels until this one. Mrs. Everything started off well but became tough to connect with the characters by page 150. My complaint was the same as others in that the story tries to hit every social issue affecting women from the 50"s. I quit reading at page 230

I agree with comments posted earlier by wmtlady, including this:
"the author thought that if she could hit all the bases on topics it would make up for blah writing. NOT. "

First thing I've read by this author. Enjoyed the book but like others felt the beginning of the book held more grit and story than the ending. Still an enjoyable read.
