Read for the 2021 read woke challenge
a much needed novel that discusses the hard hitting issues of purity culture and religion

A look at "purity" culture...and its intersections with abstinence only education and teen pregnancy. There's also some great scenes where the male POV character discovers that how he is interacting with women exclusively with reference to his own needs and desires without taking theirs into account is, well, toxic. All of this makes it sounds totally didactic and nowhere near as entertaining (and FUNNY) a read as it actually is. There are no easy answers provided, which is part of the power of this book. It recognizes the need for faith communities and public health education to exist side by side and that meeting this need is not easy.
