This is a lovely, artistic film. The weaving of storylines and characters are so intelligent.
I particularly liked the special features about how the film was put together and presented.
This is a smart addition to the library and the film archives..
Beautiful to look at, and with a great flamenco-based musical score. This modern day B&W, silent film from Spain is a good find for me. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
SNOW WHITE should appear somewhere on the cover for those who don't know Spanish. This is a beautiful silent adaptation of the story, shot in glowing black and white with a vivid and haunting orchestral soundtrack. The two young actors who play Carmencita and Carmen have beautifully expressive faces. Recommended. Remember: SNOW WHITE.
My mind is absolutely BLOWN that in 2014, one of the greatest movies I have ever seen is SILENT, in BLACK-AND-WHITE and is completely NEW. This is silent informed by all the history of film. This is not the Snow-White we grew up yet, but a fairy-tale for those who have grown up in a world beyond Grimm, in a culture that knows grim. The acting and cinematography are fantastic and flawless. The ''wicked-stepmother'' is heart-stopping (in more ways than one), great casting and superior talents come together to create a new classic that surpasses the original in many ways and ironically injects a darkly modern statement while paying artistic homage to the days of cinema's infancy. Symbols lurk just beneath the surface, in shadows, clouds, and even clothesline poles. Not one visual element is an accident as the film staggeringly brings an alter-reality/past to vivid life. I've consumed a lot of cinema and yet this is truly one of the best pieces of film-art I've seen. Crushes in a uniquely traditional Spanish way (Respect!).

Ambitious, hypnotic adaptation of this childhood classic, with the somber tone that such a tale truly deserves.
I enjoyed this silent movie take on Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. It was fresh and inventive.

I loved this film! Very interesting retelling of the classic tale. The clothing, the dancing and the cinematography are absolutely gorgeous.
A Modern film done in the old black and white pre-talking style it is a Sad Spanish version of the brothers Grimm tale.
Set in the 1920s Seville, this is a great black and white silent movie. Definitely, a different version of "Snow White".

Smartly written and beautiful to behold, Blancanieves uses its classic source material to offer a dark tale, delightfully told.
