I think that Rick Astley was a so-so recording artist.

OK. Let's face it - Regardless of his fine singing voice - (dance-pop vocalist) Rick Astley was, in fact, merely a product of manufactured pop.

All of Astley's hit songs were a joint collaboration by the mega-successful songwriting team of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman.

Without these boys writing songs for Astley (and many others) - This dude would've never achieved the fame and fortune that he inevitably did on his own steam. No way.

This "Greatest Hits" CD contains 18 tracks in all which were recorded by Astley (with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1987-1993.

The trouble with most of these songs is that they are all so painfully formulaic. And, because of that - They all tend to sound too much the same after awhile. And that, to me, spells "Boring"!!

The only reason anybody will borrow this is, obviously, the Rick Roll.
And for good reason - That one song from 1987, Never Gonna Give You Up, has an important message about love that today's youth should hear. Within the song, it states that love has rules: This is true; there are rules you need to follow concerning gender, age and maturity when it comes to love. Compare that to today's modern music which pretends the rules don't exist at all, the Rick Roll is a beam of light. Also, the song states that Rick will never give up on those he loves. This is essentially the anti-message on modern music, which is all about being promiscuous and having hundreds of flings with anyone you meet: This song is required listening for all.
And also it's the god of all internet pranks and memes. Enough said.
I cannot recommend this album enough simply for this one song.
