When Rowans family dies from the plague, he is left to travel among the small towns and villages of Prosper in his family’s caravan, playing his button box for audiences in order to make a living. He meets Samik, a young man on the run from a murderous warlord. Samik also has “the Sight” (he’s able to see and hear ghosts)—and he sees and hears Rowan’s sister, Ettie. As Rowan and Samik travel through the small towns, playing music and evading Jago, Ettie becomes a major character in the novel, as she helps them along the way. An exciting story with characters the reader will be rooting for. Reviewed by GE
