Proud Mary

the Best of Ike & Tina Turner

I recently borrowed the TNT DVD that had a performance by Ike & Tina Turner and I recently borrowed a compilation CD that had their song "A Fool in Love." I was surprised that Tina Turner had such a vocal range! Ike & Tina were more of a R&B band, with Ike's Rhythm Kings band and the Ikettes (back up singers) and on the TNT DVD Tina & the Ikettes put on quite the dance routine. I think I was somewhat surprised because I remember buying buying Tina's Private Dancer LP (1984) and it was more rock than R&B. This compilation is a nice collection of their songs including their popular and famous version of "Proud Mary." Also has some covers: "Come Together" and "Honkey Tonk Woman." Ends with Tina's cover of the Who's "Acid Queen." This SPL copy, the liner notes have been ripped in half, so you can't read them really, but listen to the CD for an enjoyable Ike & Tina overview.
