While this book lacks the complexity of some of Forsyth's earlier works such as The Devil's Alternative, the nail biting suspense of Avenger or the intrigue and romanticism of The Fourth Protocol, its subject matter is certainly timely and the story is solidly believable. It could easily have been taken from a series of newspaper articles of our day, chronicling an American agent's relentless pursuit of a dangerous, elusive Islamic extremist preacher. As always, Forsyth's depth of research into his subject matter is unparalleled, providing a wealth of authentic detail about clandestine military activities that are almost unknown to the general public.
