Jeff Bezos and the Rise of Amazon.com

I enjoyed this small book. It is a fast read that met my needs to learn a little about the relationships between Amazon and other internet book sellers. It would be a stretch to say I am an early adopter, but I have used Amazon right from the start and then increasingly with greater confidence over time. Somewhat it spite of myself and my support of book stores, I have become a regular Amazon user. My good experience with Amazon probably led me to more and more internet shopping. Living on Gabriola Island is great and we have a very good library branch, but often it does not list a specific book that I would like to acquire or read. My experience with the selection at the big box stores hasn't been good. I liked the fact that the plot line is essentially historical. The importance of being "first in" and customer oriented is shown to have been critical to Amazon's success. Contrary to many books, the chapter titles are useful to navigating the story, for example Chapter 12. Bezos Bets Big on the Kindle helped me fit e-readers into the bigger story. tfc
