A proof of McEwan's talent can be seen in the way he can masterfully describe the same type of scene in highly different way. Let's just take romantic relations and love scenes, for instance. The way he describes them in "On Chesil Beach" has not much in common with those of "Atonement" or "Sweet Tooth". Unlike some authors that keep repeating themselves, McEwan is often surprising and, even more of an accomplishment, his writing feels true.
