This movie is a mess. I could never tell what it wanted to be or accomplish. It is two period pieces in one, but the connection between them doesn't really pay off. Also, *SPOILER* this movie employs the plot cliche (Star Wars?) that the ultimate twist is that someone is a lost family member. But the characters just don't behave in a way that rings true, rather they try to build presentation using movie edits. If a lost homeless kid stumbles into your store, just tell him what he needs to know so he can feel safe and stop searching. Instead, the characters are like "come with me" and take him on a bus ride across town. Don't leave the poor kid hanging for 18 blocks on the bus! In the movie it appears as a cut lasting seconds, but I wonder what that ride was like: "Excuse me, can you just tell me what you want me to know? There is nothing else I want to talk about and awkwardly staring out the window is getting old. There are still five stops to go!"
