This book has a very unique point of view, making the narrative follow more like a diary than a step-by-step description of what the main character is doing. By writing the narrative like it was taken from a notebook, it justifies why the protagonist is describing everything, and sets up a plot that essentially unfolds backwards, which doesn't feel awkward at all. Sometimes, though, there are events where it would be weird to write from this perspective, such as in second-person.
