Under the Blood-Red Sun is an historical fiction tale about a family who adjusts with the living style of other residents in Pearl Harbor. As a normal child would, Tomi faced ups and downs everyday while encountering new neighbors, friends, and even enemies. Suddenly, a day occurred where people were suddenly being decimated, and Tomi had to kill his own pigeons raised by his family for reasons of "war threats". What could have happened during the night Tomi was sleeping peacefully in his bed? This book explores the strife of a family who struggled with their identities as Japanese-American citizens, as the attack on Pearl Harbor jeopardized their reputation and lives. Constantly being seen as a threat from both sides of the war, the family had to endure both internal and external conflicts despite the hardships in order to survive.
