The Fever Code, part of the Maze Runner Series, focuses on how the maze was built. In learning the background behind the maze, it is discovered that in the outside world, there is an infection called the Flare, and the kids that are in the maze are all put in there for their safety. The main character, Thomas, is actually largely in control of the maze and he sees some of his closest friends being a part of the hostile maze. Thomas makes the decision to go into the maze, even with the knowledge of his memory will be erased. This book provides amazing insight on how the maze was built and functioned throughout the first books of the series.
The insightful view into the previous books, a part of the Maze Runner Series, was extremely interesting to read as it fully answers all questions that may have risen throughout the other books. This book had the perfect combination between happiness and sadness, and drama and information. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has read the previous Maze Runner books, but if you haven’t, this book may be confusing.
