I've read this twice over the years, and the longer it sits with me, the better I like it. Edward's journey across the country and the way his heart gradually grows larger is endearing and nostalgic. The people he meets all have lessons to teach, and Edward has no choice but to listen. I was rather hoping this would end like the Velveteen Rabbit, or something similar, but I suppose it's only truly important that Edward know what happened to him. Either way, it's a quick, sad read, but well worth it. It, like Edward, is much deeper than it appears from the surface. I'd highly recommend it to anyone Fourth grade and up.
